HUAWEI P10 REVIEW ” A Picture is worth a thousand words”

The huawei p10 was launched last month and here is my take on it after spending a day with it.
huawei is looking to solidify their foothold on the dual-camera space with their newest flagship, the P10.The P10 isn’t as flashy or as cool as the recently announced Galaxy S8, it still has all the hallmarks of a flagship phone: speedy processor, good camera and a solid design.

  • Earphones with microphone
  • Huawei Supercharge fast charger (5V-2A / 4.5V-5A / 5V-4.5A)
  • USB Type-C cable
  • Clear case
  • SIM ejector tool
  • Quick start guide

On the left side of the P10 is where we can find the Dual-SIM card tray. Like many other smartphones today, this one is a hybrid type too. Meaning you can either have two SIM cards running at the same time or a microSD card on the SIM 2 slot. It can supports memory card up to 256GB though.

The 20MP Monochrome sensor on the back along with a 12MP RGB sensor, both with Leica SUMMARIT 27mm lenses, f/2.2 aperture. IT also has dual-tone LED flash.

Down below are a pretty busy part of the Huawei P10. There is the still-present 3.5mm jackport, the new USB Type-C port and a six-hole speaker grill, plus a microphone too.

On the right edge are the Volume Rocker and a textured Lock/Power key.

The P10 resembles Apple’s iPhone 6 at first glance, especially with the re-positioned fingerprint scanner on the front. But despite that the P10 is a pretty solid phone – the smaller display makes it comfortable to hold in the hands, all the controls are within easy reach and that fingerprint scanner adds a bit more functionality to the fore than the regular rear-mounted scanner that was on the previous generation. The dimensions of Huawei P10 are 143.4 x 71.4 x 8.5 mm and weight is only 142 grams.
Huawei made up for re-positioning the fingerprint scanner by adding some advanced control options to the P10’s scanner. A short press acts as the standard Back button, while a long press brings you back to the homescreen. Swiping left or right will bring up the apps Overview screen.

P10 in it’s various colors

The company claims the button will be easier to use than Android’s on-screen inputs, thanks to the addition of a custom Ultra Response feature. The feature reportedly tracks your usage habits so it can intelligently predict where your finger will go next, reacting preemptively and thus reducing latency.Physical key arrangement for the P10 is typical of a 5-inch phone – the power and volume rocker is on the right side, while the hybrid microSD/SIM slot is on the left side. On the bottom sits the USB Type-C connector, flanked by a single speaker grille and a 3.5mm jack.
the P10 also benefits from Huawei’s own UI overlay layered over Android Nougat, dubbed Emotion UI (or EMUI for short). It adds a few new features into the mix and Powering everything along is a Kirin 960 Octa-Core chipset, which is a pairing of quad Cortex A73 (2.4GHz) and quad Cortex A53 (1.8GHz) processors which keeps the phone running smoothly with no lag.
The display is a 5.1-inch IPS full HD display, which is pretty small considering that your typical Android smartphone has a 5.5-inch panel. Despite this there no major issues with the display – it’s bright, clear and has good color reproduction overall.Huawei wanted to offer consumers more than just the standard black, silver or gold colour options, and worked alongside Pantone to offer the Huawei P10 in vibrant and eye-catching colours like dazzling blue and greenery.

In fact, the P10 comes in eight different colours: graphite black, dazzling blue, dazzling gold, rose gold, greenery, white ceramic, mystic silver and prestige gold, although not all colours will be in Ghana.Huawei has also introduced a new finish: the hyper-diamond cut, available on the dazzling blue and dazzling gold colour options. It’s different to the standard sandblasted finish, creating tiny ridges along the length of the rear of the P10 and provides an interesting texture feel when you run your fingers across when holding the phone. Huawei also claims that the finish should reduce the fingerprints that appear on the rear of the device.

The camera is the main focus of the focus of the p10 hence the tag line ” master of potrait photography“.The p10 has leica lenses in both rear and front cameras making taking pictures a dream .The Leica co-engineered cameras are composed of a 12-megapixel color sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor, and both are paired with f/2.2 aperture lenses. Most of the new features are in the software of the camera, which still has that same Leica feel. There’s a new portrait mode that uses software to remove imperfections in your subject’s face and de-focuses the background to make them stand out in photos. The front camera is also now Leica certified, and now benefits from a better f/1.9 lens which means better photos under less than ideal lighting conditions. The front camera has an auto zoom function which automatically refocuses when there are two or more people in the background

While Huawei put a slightly larger 3,200mAh battery pack in the P10 but it hasn’t really led to an increase in the overall duration of a full charge.
Exactly how long it will last you, as always, depends on what you do with your phone,an average user will get a day and half whilst a heavy user can use it for a day considering the chipset is not a power hungry one, huawei also added the Quick Charging technology, the Huawei P10 charges incredibly quickly, going from dead to 30 percent in little over 10 minutes. A full charge takes a little longer, but is noticeably quicker than those without quick charging capabilities.

Apart from the iphone lookalike design , the p10 is a solid phone in all areas, got nice colors, great camera, perfect size and the phone just works perfectly and it is it retailing for GH₵ 2550 and also comes with a 2.5gb worth of data from MTN ghana for 6 months and a gift pack.
