We took the Phantom for a test run in legon and we got some great pictures to show that the Phantom 8 is a great phone for pictures. Please note that all pictures were taken by Jake Marley using the Phantom 8, Jake  is an expert in phone photography.

The standout features of Tecno’s latest phantom are its dual rear cameras. The setup used in the Phantom 8 consists of a 12-megapixel f/2.0 wide-angle camera, and a 13-megapixel f/2.6 telephoto camera with 10X optical zoom. Along with a promising setup, the Phantom 8 has a decent camera UI that offers a variety of modes, which include portrait (aka bokeh), panorama and beauty modes. Before we go into the quality of its photos, let’s take a quick look at its specs:

Check out the photos we took using the Phantom 8 in legon :

One of the things we noticed with the Phantom 8s cameras is that on bright daylight, photos have high contrast and are slightly sharper than usual. Interestingly, the telephoto camera’s 10X optical zoom manages to keep the photos to be as good as its wide-angle camera.

In mixed lighting and in low light, both wide-angle and telephoto cameras start to have difficulties dealing with noise However, both cameras manage to preserve as much color as possible, making the Phantom 8 capable of producing decent quality photos for even with limited lighting.

While we are still wrapping up our full review, we can say that Tecno made a good effort in equipping the Phantom 8 with a decent set of cameras, along with an easy to use camera UI. Though photos do have higher contrast than usual, the Phantom 8 is a definite performer for photography considering its price. You can get the phantom 8 at any Tecno Exclusive shop near you and also any trusted phone dealer you know, the price of the Tecno Phantom 8 is GHS 1590 and comes with 2.5gb worth of data from Mtn Ghana for 6 months
