If Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE are banned from developing 5G networks infrastructure, the next generation of mobile networks would cost 55 billion Euros ($62 billion) more for European mobile companies, the wireless industry’s biggest association GSMA revealed in a new report cited by Reuters.

The US President Donald Trump has started a trade war with China by adding two of the world’s biggest telecom equipment makers to a trade blacklist in May. This has prompted global tech giants including Google to cut ties with Huawei and European countries are also likely to follow suit. However, this ban on Chinese telecom giants will not only raise the cost of 5G networks in Europe but it will also delay the technology by about 18 months.

US govt and intelligence agencies alleged that Huawei’s equipment is potentially used by Chinese govt’s institutes for spying, something the Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE have repeatedly denied.

The ban on Chinese telecom equipment would also deprive the European Union of around 45 billion euros in productivity growth, according to a report drafted by the GSMA trade association cited by Bloomberg. The report said;

“The need to replace network equipment and the capacity constraints on the remaining mobile equipment vendors would disrupt current rollout plans. Such a delay would widen the gap in 5G penetration between the EU and the U.S. by more than 15 percentage points by 2025.”

The GSMA’s concerns came to light just after the US banned Chinese vendor last month by restricting its access to Google’s Android operating system for upcoming 5G smartphones. This will disrupt Huawei’s ability to function or access popular apps on the Play Store.

“We continue to stress that it is imperative that the market has the widest possible choice of equipment, technology, and partners, to drive, scale innovation and competition,” a GSMA spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, an immediate and complete ban on Huawei appears to be uncertain in Europe as the region relies on most for growth outside China, after Germany, France, and Britain signaled more limited restrictions and stronger oversight of their networks.

Hackers have stolen over 7,000 Bitcoins from Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trade volume, as reported by TNW.

CEO Binance, Changpeng Zhao in a support article on the official website wrote that a “large scale security breach” was discovered earlier on May 7. In this security breach, hackers were able to access user API keys, two-factor authentication codes and “potentially other info”, that Zhao has not disclosed until now.

Consequently, hackers were able to withdraw roughly $40.7 million in bitcoin from the exchange, according to a transaction published in the security notice. Currently, the exchange’s team is also unaware that how many accounts have been affected, though it claims that users’ funds will remain safe as the company plans to reimburse accounts affected by this breach.

The disclosure of breach comes hours after Zhao tweeted that the exchange was undertaking “some unscheduled server maintenance,” writing that “funds are #safu.” After the disclosure announcement, Zhao tweeted that the exchange would “provide a more detailed update shortly.”

The CEO of crypto exchange claims the malicious actors used a number of techniques including phishing and malware to carry out the hack. The security breach easily tackled to circumvent Binance‘s security checks, but when the company’s security team noticed this strange activity, the exchange blocked all withdrawals.

What we know so far, withdrawals are likely going to remain blocked until next week. In the meantime, Binance will carry out a security check and will also use its SAFU (Secure Asset Fund for Users) emergency insurance fund, to reimburse accounts affected by this breach.

• Presidents of Rwanda and Senegal to Join Over 5,000 African Entrepreneurs

The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), Africa’s foremost champion of entrepreneurship, will host its 5th Annual Forum — the largest annual gathering of African entrepreneurs – on July 26 – 27, 2019. The two-day event will take place at the iconic Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The Forum is the culmination of the annual Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, which this year mentored, trained and seeded over 3,000 young Africans, selected from over [216,000] applicants. The event provides a unique opportunity for young women and men, from all 54 African countries, to meet, learn and network with the broader African and global entrepreneurship ecosystem. It is also a critical opportunity for political leaders and policy makers to meet, face to face, a new generation of African business leaders, who are transforming Africa’s economic trajectory.

Keynote speakers at the highly anticipated Forum include His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, and His Excellency Macky Sall, President of Senegal, who will join Tony O. Elumelu, CON, TEF Founder and Chairman of Heirs Holdings and the United Bank for Africa (UBA) in an intimate open house discussion. The Presidential Convening is a highlight of the Forum, allowing the African entrepreneurs in attendance to closely engage with political leaders, to give first hand testimony of the important role government can play in catalysing growth and encouraging business ambition.

The Forum agenda includes masterclasses and panel discussions with leading speakers and sector experts, from Africa and globally, who will engage attendees in specialised training sessions to share insights, deepen their knowledge and refine their skills. The Forum will also feature a pitching event, where select entrepreneurs will deliver exciting presentations on the goods and services they provide to a distinguished judging panel.

In 2015, the Foundation committed $100 million to empower 10,000 entrepreneurs from across the continent, over 10 years. Now in the 5th year, the Foundation has funded, mentored and provided business management training to over 7,500 start-ups and small businesses, from all 54 countries in Africa.

“The TEF Entrepreneurship Forum will not just convene the most important stakeholders in the African entrepreneurship ecosystem, it provides an opportunity for everyone to make a commitment to advance entrepreneurship and scale the impact of our entrepreneurs if we are to accelerate the development of the continent,” TEF CEO, Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu said.

She added: “We are constantly inspired by the stories we receive from our entrepreneurs who are creating jobs, employing people and impacting their local communities and ultimately, the continent. We believe that these entrepreneurs are our future. Invest in them now and reap the Africa of our dreams tomorrow. This is what we are committed to.”

4). Employee Contracts
Issue employee contracts. These legally-binding documents are there to protect both your employees’ rights and your company’s.

South Korea has become the world’s first country to commercially launch 5G mobile network nationwide, promising new waves of possibilities for smartphone users. Samsung has said that the Galaxy S10 5G smartphone will offer 20 times faster speed than the current mobile phones as it began selling its 5G handsets along with the launch of 5G services in South Korea.

With the fifth-generation of mobile internet connectivity, users with less delay will get faster data speed, wider coverage, and stable connections. It will offer 20-times faster data speeds than 4G LTE networks and a better support system for artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Three mobile carriers, SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus held launch events across Seoul in South Korea, for the Galaxy S10 5G.

During the launch event, the companies placed interactive virtual reality displays and robot demonstrations to describe the possibilities the world can achieve with the new 5G technology, especially live streaming of videos related to the fields of education, health science, and others.

Only a few hours later form South Korea, the Verizon company from the US launched its 5G services in selected areas of Chicago and Minneapolis.

The carriers of 5G services from South Korea said that 15,000 buyers have already subscribed to the LG Uplus 5G service, and more than 10,000 users have subscribed to KT company’s offer.

Google is planning to shut down Google Play Music. It is one of the few kinds of music streaming services that let you upload your own content for free.

The tech giant has revealed that it will remove the Artist Hub on Google Play Music, that comes with up-and-coming bands and musicians. However, unfortunately, the service will no longer work as of April 30, 2019.

Google Play’s Artist Hub has stopped the new sign-ups. Google said that the move is part of its plan to replace Google Play Music with YouTube Music.

According to its support page:

YouTube Music lets artists take advantage of YouTube analytics, connect with fans, promote tours and sell tickets, among other things.

After April 30th, musicians will no longer be able to use the service to upload or edit their tracks. Google is convincing users to become “a YouTube Artist in case you are not already” and recommending a list of YouTube partners.

The cost of YouTube Music is $10 per month. It also includes YouTube Premium, that is providing you access to original content along with removing ads throughout all of YouTube. So if you are thinking to make an account in Google Play Music then drop the idea.

Google will soon add a “scheduling feature” to its flagship email service, which will allow users to schedule their emails without having to use a third-party add-on. Google as part of its celebrations of Gmail’s fifteenth birthday has announced various new exciting features for its email service.

Google announced this news on the Google Cloud blog by saying, “We want to make it easier to respect everyone’s digital well-being, so we’re adding a new feature to Gmail that allows you to choose when an email should be sent”. Resources in various companies usually face this common issue, where they have to send work emails during non-work hours. The new email scheduling feature will help those resources to schedule an email to be sent later.

It is unclear that when Google will make this feature accessible to its users, but the rollout is expected to be in-line with the Gmail’s birthday, so you can expect it to be released pretty soon. In the meantime, you can go through the steps which Google described in their demo video regarding how you can use the scheduling feature in Google’s email service.

Step 1 : Open a New Message draft in Gmail, and compose your message.

Step 2: After composing your email, when you’re ready to schedule your email to be sent, select the new downward-facing arrow icon, which is located on the blue Send button, but to the right of the word Send.

Step 3: An option labeled “Schedule Send” will appear on your screen, select that option.

Step 4: A menu will then appear having preset dates and times in it. You can either choose from one of these presets, or you can select the Pick Date & Time option to choose your own schedule.

Step 5: After picking a date and time for your message, an on-screen notification from Gmail will pop up at the bottom of your screen to let inform you that the message has been sent. This popup notification will also offer you the following options: View Message or Undo.

Step 6: The message you scheduled will then appear in your intended recipient’s inbox at the proper scheduled time.

Google also announced a “Smart Compose” feature in its cloud blog. This feature will allow users to draft new emails without needing to type in repetitive words and phrases, to Android. Gmail recently updated its mobile app’s Material theme design which offers a slicker and cleaner user interface by removing most of the app’s accent colors and by sticking with a flat white design.

With all the consumer attention and media frenzy focused on the more interesting aspects of a smartphone like its camera technology, battery capacity, and display, it can be easy to neglect what should be the bedrock of every device in this paranoid age: security. Fortifying user data and prioritizing user privacy are imperative, and no one does it better than the Google Pixel 3.

Android phones are, for the most part, not considered super secure. However, with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, one never feels like one’s privacy and need for security is not being taken seriously. This is largely down to the smartphones’ usage of the pure stock version of Android Pie, so whenever a security bug or vulnerability pops up, Pixel phones are the first to receive security patches.

Additionally, Google rolls out security patches on a monthly basis thereby ensuring that you are as safe from potential exploits and attacks as possible. The company also guarantees updates for up to three years, which is all the more reason to feel confident buying a Pixel 3.

So Google is always on top when it comes to timely software updates and patches, but what’s the deal with them anyway? Well, whenever a device connects to the Internet, it essentially exposes itself to all manner of exploits that can move past its default security configuration. If the device is not adapting to the hostile environment by updating itself regularly, it can’t hope to survive.

Along with security and privacy, transparency is of utmost importance as well. Google is apparently mindful of that, as it allows you to examine the Android code for the platform version as well as all of the updates.

With a whole team of dedicated engineers and security experts, Google takes the secure nature of its devices very seriously, and the Pixel 3 encapsulates that

Recently in DxOMARK camera ranking, Huawei’s P30 Pro defeated Samsung’s Galaxy S10+ to receive the status of the highest rated camera in a smartphone with a score of 112. But it appears that Samsung is not willing to accept this defeat.

Samsung has officially posted a poster on Weibo that the 112 score of Huawei P30 Pro is for photography only, whereas DxOMark usually also assigns separate scores for another main feature of smartphone camera capabilities i.e. selfies. As the Galaxy S10+ scored 96 in selfies which is far more than any Huawei phone as Samsung revealed in the artwork; 109+96 is greater than 112+89. Hence, Samsung is claiming the top spot for Galaxy S10+ instead of Huawei P30 Pro.

It must be noted here that DxOMARK is a camera-benchmarking website which scientifically tests the ability of a smartphone camera. A few weeks ago, DXOMARK released their review on the Galaxy S10 Plus which received the highest ever front camera rating of 96, beating Pixel 3 and Galaxy Note 9 and the joint-highest rear-camera rating of 109. However, a day after P30’s launch the website declared Huawei P30 Pro a champion in the rear camera and the overall smartphone camera rating.

Meanwhile, if we count a cumulative score the Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 would also be superior in terms of overall camera performance as compared to Mate 20 Pro. However, it must be kept in mind that DxOMark is just one system of review, whereas real-world assessments include various testing systems when judging smartphone camera expertise.

South Korea will be the first country to commercially launch fifth-generation (5G) services on Friday, April 5. South Korea has one of the world’s top smartphone penetration rates and is in a race with the US, China, and Japan to launch the latest 5G services. The 5G technology offers 20-times faster data speeds than 4G LTE networks and a better support system for artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

This tech will create revolutionary breakthroughs in the fields including smart cities and autonomous cars. It will also help to drive up economic growth that slowed to a six-year low in 2018.

Ryu Young-sang, executive vice president of the SK Telecom said, “It is meaningful that South Korean telecom companies are providing services and networks meeting South Korean customers’ high standard in speed and picture quality”.

He stated, “5G will change the landscape of the gaming industry as it allows games to stream with minimal delay to be played on smartphones”.

Ryu said that right now the SK Telecom company is working on its memory chip SK Hynix, to develop a highly digitized and connected factory, which is powered by 5G technology. The company has a total of 27 million users and is expecting a total of 1 million 5G customers by the end of this year.

A smaller rival company KT Corp, competing with SK Telecom is planning to offer cheaper LTE service plans, with unlimited data and 4-year installments scheme to buy their 5G devices.

Samsung was the first company to launch a 5G powered Galaxy S10 smartphone in February, and a $2000 folding smartphone. Samsung’s rival LG Electronics is also planning to launch a 5G smartphone in South Korea in the coming days. While in the US, carrier Verizon is planning to launch a 5G smartphone on April 11.

Twitter is releasing a new prototype app today where it will test new designs, layouts, and features to test. The social media giant announced this via a tweet.

The new prototype application will be rolling a specific group of testers, the app was originally announced earlier in a CES conference in January. The main aim of the release of this app was the allow Twitter developers to do some experimental testing while getting feedback from the users(testers) and if the feedback is positive then develop and incorporate that feature in the main app.

The initial rounds of testing will include a new design for conversation, the prototype will show different format for replies where conversations will have more rounded char-like shape and indentation. Details such as engagements, sharing options other tweet options will be hidden from the user’s review to maintain a simple UI.

However, the most notable change would be that different type of replies will be color-coded to differentiate those from the original poster as well as those Twitter users you personally follow. The purpose of this is to provide a better visual cue to those users who are following lengthier threads. Here’s is a look of the logo of this prototype app:

As time progresses, Twitter will use the prototype app to test and eventually include more features in the main app. However, only a specific set of testers will be allowed to test this prototype app. According to Twitter, only a couple of thousand of English and Japanese speaking users will be invited to test the prototype app via an email invite.

The email invite is expected to come in the next few days. When received the users can follow the link to confirm their participation, once confirmed the person will wait for another email invite from the device’s app beta testing program. The person can then download the app and use it instead of the native Twitter app.
