Facebook has announced a “Lite” version of its Android Messenger app. The new bare-bones Messenger app is designed for older phones with less memory and less powerful processors. Messenger Lite will initially launch in Kenya, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, and Venezuela, but will hit other regions at a later, unspecified date.

Much like the main Facebook Lite app that came before it, Messenger Lite is aimed at users in emerging markets. The pared down app has been designed to be work reliably a wider variety of Android devices, and use less data to mitigate unpredictable network speeds. It’s not clear what’s missing in the lightweight version, but don’t be surprised if features likeStories or Chatbots don’t make the cut. At the very least, Messenger Lite will send and receive photos, stickers and links. There’s no mention of whether there will be a similar app for iOS (Facebook says it chose markets with a “prevalence of basic Android smartphones”), but if you’re in one of the five launch nations, you can download Messenger Lite starting today.

In BlackBerry’s latest quarterly financials released today, the company revealed it’s getting out of the hardware business once and for all, choosing instead to “outsource that function to partners.” It’s not a huge shock given BlackBerry CEO John Chen has foreshadowed the cut and run several times. Earlier this year, he warned that if hardware wasn’t making a profit by September it would be time to call it quits, and he’s kept his word after the Mobility Solutions division posted an $8 million loss for this past quarter. This doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of BlackBerry handsets, though; they just won’t be produced in-house anymore.

There are plenty of fantastic reasons to upgrade to the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. For starters, there’s the new camera features, the upgraded storage options, and the water resistant body. The iPhone 7 Plus with its dual-camera lens, has even more reasons to go in for an upgrade.

However, the iPhone 7 isn’t exactly going to be a must-buy for everyone. Here are five situations and reasons you may want to hold off on upgrading to the new iPhone:

1. If you really hate the idea of losing your headphone jack

Apple has done a lot of things right in its attempts to transition to a headphone jack-less world. It comes with a pair of free Lightning headphones, as well as a headphone jack dongle. However, for some people that just won’t be enough. We’ll have to wait and see, but there may even be some Android refugees in the next couple of years.

2. If you are “upgrading” to an iPhone SE

TOKYO, JAPAN - MARCH 31: An Apple Inc. iPhone SE is displayed at the company's Omotesando store on March 31, 2016 in Tokyo, Japan. Apple Inc. launched its iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7 inch on March 31, 2016 in Japan. (Photo by Tomohiro Ohsumi/Getty Images)

When a lot of people bought their iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s, the option for the smaller iPhone SE wasn’t yet on the table. The 4.0-inch iPhone has the power and brains of the iPhone 6s in a smaller body that a lot of people have been clamoring for since Apple went big with the iPhone. Unlike the iPhone 5c, the iPhone SE is actually a great smartphone that doesn’t compromise any features or specs anything for the smaller size.

3. If you have an iPhone 6s

There are plenty of buyers who upgrade their iPhones every year, especially thanks to Apple’s trade-in program. However, if you are on a traditional two-year contract or only upgrade when you’re really sold, moving up to an iPhone 7 just might not be worth it. The iPhone 7 looks nearly identical to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s (outside of the new color options and missing headphone jack), and doesn’t exactly have a single standout feature.

4. If you are waiting for the 10th Anniversary iPhone

If rumors (which have been spot on these days) are to be trusted, next year’s 10th Anniversary iPhone is going to be a massive overhaul to the design and functionality of the smartphone. So what are these big features that you should be holding out for? Everything from an edge-to-edge OLED display to the Iris scanner—and even a missing home button! If all that sounds more interesting than the iPhone 7, you may want to hold off until next Fall.

5. Because Android keeps getting better and better

It might be obvious to say, but with phones like the OnePlus 3, the Nexus 6P, and the Galaxy Note 7, there are plenty of reasons to stick with your Android phone of choice. Whether it’s for a great camera or the more customizable software, keeping your Android phone or even converting over to Android is more advisable today than ever before.

From the details above , its obvious that a lot of effort went into the design and overall specifications of this device. Here’s what’s new on the Tecno Phantom 6 :

1. Two Variants :

This year , TECNO Mobile launched two variants of this device ; The Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus. Both smartphones differ in their screen size and internal specifications.

Phantom 6 Plus is the bigger smartphone , with a 6.0 inch FHD LTPS Capacitive touch screen 4GB RAM , 64GB Storage and 4050mAh battery.

On the other hand  , the Phantom 6 is smaller than the 6 Plus , and has a 5.5 inch AMOLED screen , 3GB RAM , 32GB internal storage and 2700mAh battery.

2.  A 5 Layer Metal Design :

One of the unique selling point of the new Tecno Phantom 6 is its incredible design and slim body ; totally different from what we saw on the Phantom 5 .

Tecno Phantom 6  has a 5 layer Full metal body to provide more durability. The back is slightly curved to enable a more firm grip.

Each layer adds a unique element to the overall appearance of the device. From bottom up, the body is made up of a Nano molding seamless metal unibody, a firm fastener, a non-detachable battery design , and an aluminum magnesium alloy frame. The corning gorilla glass v3.0 helps protect the screen from scratch and cracks from heavy falls.

3. High-End Camera :

If you love pictures , the Phantom 6 (and 6 Plus) will definately interest you because it comes with world class camera sensors manufactured by SONY.

The camera setup on the Phantom 6 is a little bit sophisticated and different from what we’re used to.

Tecno Phantom 6 comes with 18MP back camera , however , the camera was split into two different sensors ; one with 13MP and the other with 5MP resolution , making a total of 18MP.

The 13MP camera detects the view  , while the 5MP camera provides more depth and clarity to the picture.

If we can recall , this same camera setup was used on the Huawei P9 and the iPhone 7 Plus smartphone.

For taking selfies & videos , the Phantom 6 relies on an 8MP front camera with LED flash.

On the other hand , the Phantom 6 Plus has a single back camera with 21MP resolution , while the front camera has a resolution of 8MP , with LED Flash.

4. Improved Hardware & Faster Processor :

In terms of hardware , the Phantom 6 Plus has a more powerful processor than the phantom 6. It uses a Deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 chipset , which is very fast and battery efficient.MediaTek revealed that the Helio X20 chipset saves battery by 30% , despite its high performance.

Along side this powerful chipset , the Phantom 6 Plus relies on 4GB RAM for effective multitasking , and 64GB ROM for data storage. However , it is important to know that the Phantom 6 Plus DOES NOT come with an external SD card slot. Instead , it comes with an Hybrid SIM setup , which means that you can choose to use one of the sim slots as a memory card slot.

As for the Phantom 6 , it uses a 2.0 Ghz MediaTek chipset for information processing , 3GB RAM for multitasking , and 32GB ROM for media storage. If you want more space , there’s an external SD card slot of up to 128GB.

5. Better Security :

Smartphone security is really important because our personal information will be at risk if hacked. The Phantom 6 provides a biometric iris scanner which scans you eyes before unlocking the device. And if you want more security , you can get the Phantom 6 Plus which comes with both the iris scanner and a fingerprint reader at the back.

6. Android 6.0 Marshmallow :

Both devices run on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system , along side TECNO’s custom User Interface called HiOs.

HiOs provides better customization , and a collection of themes and wallpapers to choose from.

The Tecno Phantom 6 (and 6 Plus) supports USB TYPE-C port which allows for reversible plug orientation, fast charging and data transfer from Phantom 6 to other devices. This is the first time a technology like this is used on a TECNO device.

8. Battery Life :

In terms of battery , the Phantom 6 has a lesser battery capacity than we expected. It comes with a 2700mAh battery with rapid charge. The battery should take you through at least 7 hours of heavy usage.

On the other hand , the Phantom 6 Plus comes with a 4050mAh battery which should take you a full day of heavy usage without recharge.

Tecno Phantom 6 Plus v Phantom 6

I’m sure by now you’re wondering the difference between the Phantom 6 plus and the Phantom 6.

Both devices are different and similar in many ways :

  1. Phantom 6 Plus comes with a bigger Screen
  2. 6 Plus has more RAM than the Phantom 6
  3. Phantom 6 plus comes with both fingerprint reader and iris scanner , while phantom 6 supports iris scanner
  4. The Phantom 6 uses an Octa-core processor , while the Phantom 6 Plus is powered by a Deca-core chipset
  5. Tecno Phantom 6 ships with 32GB storage , Phantom 6 Plus has 64GB storage
  6. A 4050 mAh battery powers the Phantom 6 Plus , while the Phantom 6 is powered by a 2700mAh battery.

Should You Buy Or Not?

If you’re using the Phantom 5 and thinking of upgrading to the Phantom 6 , Here’s what i think about this device :

Firstly , i’ld like to commend TECNO for a job well done. From what i heard , it took them over 400 days (almost 2 years) to design and put together the Phantom 6 ; and its really beautiful. Its obvious that they listened to the wish of the fans , and produced a much more better device than the Phantom 5.

Phantom 6 is beautiful all round. Good specs and an outstanding camera. However , i’m a little bit concerned about the battery life. I can’t help but wonder why such a powerful device as this would come with a mere 2700mAh battery which may not last up to 12 hours heavy usage.

On the other hand , the Phantom 6 plus looks like a more “perfect” device , and the 4050mAh battery is a huge positive. However , it dosen’t come with a dedicated SD card slot , but you can choose to use one of the sim slots as a memory card holder.

For me , i think the Phantom 6 Plus will be able to compete with other high-end flagship devices in the market. i don’t see why not.

So , should you buy?

Yes!. Definately. There’s a lot of improvement here , and i think it is worth the money.

If you have enough cash , i’ld suggest you get the Phantom 6 Plus instead of the normal Phantom 6 , because the Phantom 6 plus has better specs and the battery life is really huge for a device of this magnitude.

Smartphones have been around for years meaning that users have the option of choosing what suits them. With the many options available on the market, the type of smartphone you choose can communicate to the world what you are all about. People choose Smartphones, whether consciously or unconsciously, based on their lifestyles.

In this article, I will talk about what your Smartphone’s screen size and operating system says about you.

Screen Size

When Smartphones first came out, they had very small screens but this has all changed. The screen size you end up choosing says a lot about you and your lifestyle.

4 inch Screen or Smaller

If your smartphone has a 4inch screen size or smaller, then you probably are not as active user. People who use such phone use them mostly to make phone calls, send texts or do the basic things phone do. Most of these people either have other Smartphones that they use most of the time or are just not that big into technology. In most situations, you will find people using these phones for business only. These are not the people you will find checking their Smartphones every few seconds unless it rings or an SMS is delivered.

A smartphone is this size range says you are not that tech savvy, not an early adopter and do not care so much about new technological developments.

Between 4 and 4.5 inches

Smartphones with screen sizes in this range are the most popular. They are mostly preferred by first time smartphone buyers and the young buyers. Most people with such Smartphones use them for phone calls, text messages and social media. People who use these Smartphones do not care so much about new technological developments but they are aware of these developments.

Having a smartphone with a screen size between 4 and 4.5 inches says you know a lot about what happens around you but you do not care so much about that if your messaging apps are not work

4.5 to 5 inches

Smartphones in this category are for the urban users and those in the know.  These people are much into social media and are those you will find updating their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram profiles 5 times or more in a day. Most people who buy these Smartphones tend to be easy going in real life but very active online.

Between 5 and 5.7 inches

People who buy these smartphones tend to be very active on social media and are those you will always find staring on their phones all the time. These people will always attend the trendiest events in town and you will always find them in the latest clothes in the coolest joints. Such people are never afraid to show off and like the finer things in life.

Above 5.7 inches

These Smartphones are pretty much used by business men/women or those people who are always on the go. When you have such a smartphone, people will always think you are a manager in some company or a very successful business man or just a show off.

Operating system

Apart from the screen size, the operating system also says something about you.

iOS is for those who like the finer things in life. These are the people who will easily get that new Porsche even if it means getting a loan for it. Such people will eat in the finest establishments and. will never like to admit it but they like to show off.

People who use Android are the free spirits. Having an Android device shows you are more of a laid back individual who will easily be swayed by other people’s opinions and their actions. You are also likely to take risks.

Windows Phone

Having Windows phone shows that you like order in your life. You like getting things done and are less likely to do what you are not supposed to. Such people tend to be more productive in the office and personal lives.

BlackBerry OS

BlackBerry is for people who do a lot on their phones, be it sending messages, making phones calls among others. Most people who use BlackBerry do not adopt new technology as fast as others and they tend to hold on to things a lot. Such people like convenience in their lives.

If you’ve been wondering what the production cost for the recently released iPhone 7 is, search no further – thanks to the analysts at IHS Markit, we now have the figures.

According to IHS, the total cost for a 32GB iPhone 7 totals up to $224.80 USD after bill of materials ($219.80 USD) and basic manufacturing costs ($5), which is $36.89 USD higher than the iPhone 6S’ analyzed cost back in December 2015. This brings the total production cost of the iPhone 7 closer to the flagship phones from its primary competitor, Samsung.

While the overall shape and physical design of the iPhone 7 is similar to the iPhone 6S that preceded it, the new display has wider color gamut which improves the rendering of photos and videos – leading to increase costs. It’s also become more clear now that Apple eliminated the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack in part to allow a larger battery and haptic motor as well as a waterproof microphone.

Furthermore, Apple increased the iPhone 7’s storage density, with the base model now boasting 32 GB. From a cost perspective, the shift from 16GB/64GB/128GB iPhones to 32GB/128GB/256GB is a big reason why Apple’s cost to build the iPhone 7 saw a remarkable jump,so  Apple makes an estimated profit of $424 on each unit it sells (This is based on the cost of making each iPhone 7 and excludes the research, development, or marketing costs).

WhatsApp has quietly added the ability for users in group chats to tag other participants, so they receive a notification even if they’ve muted the conversation. The feature works on Android and iOS, but not on the desktop app.

You’re probably not going to like this, if you’re in a number of groups that you didn’t ask to be invited to. But if you’re lucky enough to be a part of productive and positive group chats, this will certainly come in handy to keep conversations on track.

To tag someone, simply enter the ‘@’ symbol, followed by their name; you can choose a contact from the menu that pops up. You can tag multiple contacts in a single message. It also works with contacts that you haven’t saved to your address book, but are part of the same group chat as you.

WhatsApp previously added a feature that allowed you to quote messages in group chats to make it clear what you’re responding to. It also expanded group sizes from 100 to 256 participants.

With this new tagging feature, the Facebook-owned messaging service is making it even easier to keep the conversation alive with multiple contacts. What it can’t do, unfortunately, is make people less annoying in group chats

Infinix  officially launched their best note series so far ,even though the infinix note 3 is already in the market in Ghana and was gaining momentum the official launch of the phone was held around airport city and like all infinix launches it was strictly by invite only. The launch was done in conjunction with Jumia Ghana and Mtn Ghana and all parties were present to grace the occasion, Mr. Kinmo Cai the country manger for Infinix Ghana in introducing the Note 3 ,gave a brief history of the company ,from humble beginning in 2013 to being a major force in the cell phone market,he also said it was one of their most state of the art phones ever produced by them. The note 3’s battery is like no other infinix phone battery ,after charging for just 5 minutes you are guaranteed 200 minutes of talk time. The Note 3 comes in Two Variants .

Kinmo Cai

Fast Charging

According to Infinix, the Note 3 can get you up to 200 minutes of talk time with just 5 minutes of charging it. According to the company, this has been achieved with the inclusion of duo 4.5A charging engines with MediaTek PumpExpress fast charging technology to ensure a fast and safe charging process.

Aeroscope Cooling Technology

The Infinix Note 3 comes with Aeroscope Cooling Technology (ACT) that is made up of copper pipes that carry fluid through the phone to prevent overheating. When the phone is overheating, the fluid evaporates and the extra heat is circulated as water vapor. This is the first smartphone from Infinix that uses this technology and I will be keen to see if it works as expected.

Massive Battery

The Infinix Note 3 comes with a 4500 mAh battery that is slightly bigger than the 4040mAh one used on the Note 2. This battery can be fully charged in 99 minutes thanks to XCharge 3.0.

Fingerprint scanner

The Note 3 comes with a fingerprint reader that the company says can unlock your phone in just 0.25 seconds. The fingerprint scanner can also be used as the shutter button when taking photos.

Metallic Body

Infinix replaced the polycarbonate construction with a fantastic metallicious build. The downside to the use of the premium material is that the Infinix Note 3 is quite heavy, significantly heavier than the Note 2.

The second variant of the Note 3 Has the following specs

You can buy your Note 3 from Jumia Ghana
