The internet has become part and parcel of our lives and it will be very difficult for people in this current day and age to live with slow internet and worst of all no internet.Since data has gradually overtaken voice it is sad to experience internet outages and fluctuations in Ghana on weekly basis.

Cable has compiled new data which they extracted from 63 million broadband speeds around the world and it has some interesting insights, Ghana placed 5th in Africa and 120th in the world.

Topping the world’s list with a mean download speed of 60.39 mbps is Singapore and it is unchanged from the previous year. Scandinavian countries rounded up the top four (Sweden, Denmark and Norway in that order) with 46, 44 and 40 mbps respectively.

The most interesting statistic is Madagascar where it is ranked 22nd in the world and is first in Africa. The country registered a mean speed of 24.87 mbps and is ahead of countries like France, Finland and Germany which is shocking.

Kenya is second in Africa with a mean of 10.11 mbps , which is significantly behind Madagascar’s mean speed but still a solid result for 2nd place. They checked 6,581 distinct IPs for tis test and there were 31,083 tests obtained to get this total. It is estimated to take 1 hour 7 minutes and 30 seconds to download a 5GB movie in Kenya as per the statistics while compared to Madagascar, that seems like a lot of time since it only takes 27 minutes and 27 seconds to download the same file.

Rounding up the top 5 in Africa include South Africa with 6.38 mbps, Cape Verde with 3.24 mbps and Ghana with 2.88 mbps and It is estimated to take 3 hour 56 minutes and 51 seconds to download a 5GB movie .

ISP’s in Ghana should sit up and start providing better internet service to customers as the internet has taken over lots of the workload from offline to online and with the unplanned internet blackouts from ISP’s with no back up alot of businesses lose huge revenue. It will take a while before we break into the top 3 in Africa if the various ISPs do not sit up.

Infinix gave us HOT S we are thrilled ,then they gave us the S2 with the first wide angle selfie camera called wefie which proved to us that budget smartphones could not only look good, but also have good specifications and take good photos too.

Infinix Ghana is about to launch their first device in 2018 and the device to lead the entry is the heir to the well loved S2 which has paid it dues and now has to give way for a new heir which is the S3 ( HOT S3 ).  The S3 is going to be the first INFINIX device to have the now popular 18:9 aspect ratio with a Full HD resolution.

The display is 5.65 inches and maintains the 2.5D curved screen that has become sort of a signature design choice for Infinix smartphones. The phone boasts of a screen-to-body ratio of 81%.

The major change S3 is bringing is the processor; the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 coupled with Adreno 505 GPU and either 3GB  RAM and 32GB ROM respectively.

There is also another change in the camera setup ; there are no more dual front cameras and instead there is a single 20MP front camera with  dual LED flash and also  a single 13MP back camera (also with dual LED) which I hope takes even better photos than last year’s model. The S3 runs on Oreo out of the box and  that means the phone supports Project Treble which translates to significantly faster updates for your smartphone.

The S3 comes with a massive 4000mAh battery which promises incredible battery life, unlike its predecessors, this phone supports fast charging, so you’re sure you won’t wait long hours to have significant power in your smartphone.

From the above information gathered about the phone it promises to be a great and promising device ,The phone hasn’t launched in Ghana but the price should be around 700 -790 GHS.

Last year in a facebook post Infinix boss Benjaminn Jiang gave a hint of a snapdragon powered device from Infinix and true to his words there is going to be a snapdragon phone from infinix.Below is his facebook post.

Since Infinix was founded in 2012, the company have been releasing a lot of classic smartphones to meet users need and they are best known for building cutting-edge products and design transformation of mobile devices.

Leaks from GFX Bench, an Infinix device with the model code X573 and which is expected to be the Infinix Hot S3 will be making its way out later in the year with a Qualcomm chipset.

The Infinix Hot S3 X573 will run on android latest OS, android 8 Oreo and that it will come with 3GB RAM, a single rear camera with dual flash and also a single front facing camera with dual flash.

The phone will come with fingerprint scanner for security, it will be powered by 4000mAh battery capacity, 5.5 inch display screen and it is reported to also be an 18:9 ratio display device, with all these specs the device promises to be a great one.

LEAKED SPECIFICATIONS

  • Display size: 5.5-inch display screen
  • OS: Android 8.0 Oreo
  • RAM: 3GB
  • Security: Rear-mounted Fingerprint scanner
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon
  • Network: 2G, 3G and 4G networks
  • Camera: Single rear camera with dual flash and single frontal camera with dual flash
  • Battery: 4000mAh battery capacity
  • 18:9 Ratio Display

As you can read from above these are speculations and the specs are subject to change,so keep your fingers crossed we will post the final specs when the phone is launched or when  they are confirmed

Tecno Mobile has finally unveiled its first smartphone with an 18:9 ratio display in Ghana. The 18:9 ratio means it has very thin bezels.

The TECNO Camon CM comes with a crafted 2.5D Third-Generation Corning Glass display and a remarkably sleek design that makes the device sit comfortably when held, the new TECNO CAMON CM infinity display confronts the usual framework of smartphone design, allowing users to see and experience more than ever before. The Tecno Camon CM comes with a 5.7-inch display that takes up 83% of the phone’s front panel and it is much bigger than the screen of its much more recent predecessors (CAMON CX, CAMON CX air), enabling a much wider viewing and also a nice addition to the Tecno family.

The device comes imbedded with an 18:9 screen support single window 1:1 split-screen which can be operated with only one step – meaning you can do two things at a time on the screen.

also The TECNO Camon CM comes with a 13MP camera with amazingly bright ring flash (1 LED ring flash in the front and 4 LED ring flash in the back) is there to give users beautiful pictures and with the wider screen, users can capture more angles when used to take a selfie.

The TECNO Camon CM comes fully loaded with a huge 3000mAh battery, 2GB RAM+16GB ROM memory, 4GLTE and runs on 7.0 android OS which makes everything work smoothly and the is been sold for GHC 612.

We do not see that many smartphones within this price range with an 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels so Tecno can use this to stand out from competitors. The CAMON CM is availble in all Tecno Exclusive shops near you.

Some weeks ago, the rumour mill buzzed about TECNO launching a bezel-less phone and it looks like it’s going to come from the Camon line. With the assertions and leaked images coming from tipsters about TECNO’s first full screen smartphone, we should expect something special from them.

For some years now, TECNO has not disappointed in delivery, as they have consistently launched several top-of-the-line smartphones from the Phantom series to the Camon series and  the L series and as already reported, this new device is coming from the Camon brand and is rumoured to be called the TECNO CAMON CM- amazing right!

The African smartphone power house, is definitely not resting on its laurels as information coming from several sources indicates that they have something special cooking and this device will not only continue to boost the selfie love trend but will make people get more than they would normally get in taking their regular selfies.

The CAMON line of TECNO phones have been known to focus on cameras, and hopefully this new phone, when it becomes available, will give users really good cameras.

Interestingly, some very reliable industry analysts have been able to confirm the full meaning of the abbreviation “CM” as C-More which literally means to See More.

Looks like we would be seeing more of screen and photography from the above meaning but for now, I guess we should reserve our judgment and wait to see what happens in the next few days. But one thing is certain, as it has been in their recent style, TECNO will surely surprise its fans.

There is no confirmed date for which this rumoured handset would be unveiled in Ghana but it would definitely be in the month of January and would be flaunting a massive screen of between 5-6-inch Full Screen.

The latest TECNO in town is the PHANTOM 8  which was officially launched in Dubai and later on in Ghana, i finally got one review unit and here is my early impression after unboxing it.

Before we get into what is in the box here is a brief of the Phantom 8 specifications:

MY IMPRESSION

I have personally never had a good experience with a Tecno smartphone before, the only Tecno smartphone i ever used was the Tecno F7 which gave me nightmares but that was years ago and Tecno has grown over the years and done incredibly well with the phantom series. The Tecno Phantom 8 is a 5.7 inch display unit which is very much like most flagships in 2017,it’s diamond style design comes with a 3D Lighting, unibody metal edge and a 2.5 D Drip Screen-curved battery cover. It also possesses a 6 GB RAM plus 2.6 GHz CPU ultra-fast experience that supports 4G+ and download speed up to 300Mbps.
TECNO Mobile’s Phantom 8 comes with a front facing camera at 20 megapixels alongside a smart dual selfie flash with double front ring flash ensures taking photos even in a low light environment.

The edges on the phantom 8 are smooth and this makes it comfortable to carry it around. The back cover looks like metal but really is poly-carbonate;the advantage of having such a material used on the Phantom 8 is that it is light and the phone feels lighter than most other devices its size. The phone is a bit slippery so a free cover provided to improve grip and also a back cover protector that also protects the your phone from scratches.Since this is a dual camera phone, you get a better portrait mode that blurs the background as it focuses on the main subject. Tecno refers to this feature as “refocusing”,The Tecno Phantom 8 supports USB Type-c and it is located at the bottom of the phone next to the speaker grill and microphone. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack that is at the top. On the right hand side you get the volume and power button, the hybrid SIM and microSD card tray is on the right. This is a hybrid tray that means that you can only use one SIM and a MicroSD card or two SIM cards with no MicroSD card. The fingerprint sensor, which was available on the back of the Phantom 8 is very responsive and quick, the speakers are loud and balanced. The phantom 8 comes with HiOS 3.0.0 with runs on top of Android 7.0. It is a heavy skin with so many extra apps, some of them useful nonetheless. There a couple gestures to make day to day use a pleasure, including a swipe down to call the notification shade. Other features a left panel that populates you feed with news and most used apps for quick access. So far so good i have not experienced any glitch using the phone powered by a 2.6GHz MediaTek Helio P25 processor (octa-core) paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space nothing could ever go wrong with it right ?
I  am already loving the speed with which apps are launched and running and will give a comprehensive review of it in few days.
